This page covers the "Save to Tacit" Chrome extension specifically. For the main Tacit app's privacy practices, see your account settings.
Only when you click "Save this page" in the extension popup, it reads the current tab's page content (the rendered HTML) and URL. It does not run in the background, does not read any other tabs, and does not capture anything without you clicking the button.
The captured page content and URL are sent to Tacit's API and used solely to create a saved item in your own Tacit account, tied to your personal access token. This is what lets the extension save pages that require you to be logged in to view — like X Articles — since it uses the page exactly as your browser already renders it, rather than Tacit fetching the page itself.
Captured content is never sold, shared with third parties, or used for advertising. It isn't used to train any model beyond the same AI processing (summarization, tagging) already applied to anything else you save in Tacit.
Directly to Tacit's own API (trytacit.app) over HTTPS. No other destination.
