00 Both of these can take an hour out of your day, but only one leaves me feeling better afterwards. Here are five ways the Switch 2 changed my relationship with gaming, and surprisingly my phone, too. And why I think that's exactly what a lot of us need. For years I thought gaming was the unhealthy hobby. So, I spent way more time on this instead. [music] But somewhere along the way I realized I was avoiding the wrong thing. As a kid I loved getting lost in fantasy worlds. It's one of the best memories I have. The imagination, [music] the creativity, and the stories behind the games I was playing was a real lifeline for me. And somehow I let adulting turn everything [music] into serious mode.

37 >> For me? >> Until recently. >> [music] >> Starting with the obvious, the form factor. It is beautiful. It's small. It's [music] portable. You can pick this thing up anywhere and just enjoy 20 minutes [music] of gaming. It's low commitment, frictionless. There's also something special about handheld consoles. It could just be me, but it brings back the nostalgic days of playing Gameboy. You no longer need expensive monitors, a desk, and a fancy chair. You can just relax wherever your heart desires and get lost in this little portal that brings you into [music] these imaginative worlds. Secondly is the games. Nintendo has managed a way to walk the fine line between creating beautiful, immersive games, but that are not using gambling and psychology [music] mechanics to keep you glued for the next 12 hours, the way a lot [music] of mainstream multiplayer online games are doing today. I really do like that the vibe is a little more chill and adventurous, and less about whipping your controller at the screen.

42 >> [music] >> The third element is gaming to replace doom scrolling. We all know that feeling of doom scrolling where you're just going through several videos, and [music] it acts like a time vacuum, and you don't know if it's been 2 minutes or 2 hours. With the Switch 2 you're committing to one game, one world, and one [music] story, which requires patience and discipline, and you have to work through challenges and actually use your brain. In that way, I find it a lot easier to gauge my time, and I'm aware of how long I've been gaming. And I [music] know I'm stating the obvious, but gaming is obviously a lot more interactive. When we're on our phones, we're just passively scrolling, whereas when you're in your game, you're immersed and [music] you're taking part in a story, and that feels good. I'm no scientist here, but playing on Switch 2 for an hour leaves me feeling a hundred times in [music] a better mood than doom scrolling on my phone.

36 >> [music] >> The fourth element is creative inspiration. Being immersed in fantasy or sci-fi worlds often gives me creative inspiration for drawing or writing stories, or even incorporating gaming elements into my video making. The sheer amount of arts and imagination used behind games really inspires me to be a creative [music] myself. And that's honestly one of my favorite parts of gaming. For as long as I've been into playing video games, I remember it'd always bring out this creative side of me

04 >> [music] >> that I wanted to invent fantasy worlds and draw my own characters, and even when I wasn't gaming, I was thinking about cool things I wanted to create [music] that was inspired by the games I was playing. That creative inspiration and imagination is really hard to get these days, and gaming delivers very well. The fifth element [music] is balance is key. I don't know if Nintendo is aware of this, but they created the perfect balanced lifestyle console. Because it's so frictionless and easy to pick up and enjoy a 30-minute session, you no longer need that dedicated 4 hours. So, now I feel like I can really get back to the productive things in my day, go exercise and work out, work on my job, do other errands, and I know that later, even if I have just 20 minutes to sit on the couch, I can really get immersed in a story that I'm enjoying. [music] And honestly, I'm all here for it. I really miss those Game Boy and Nintendo 64 days. And don't hesitate to share some of your favorite Switch 2 games in the comments. I'm always looking for cool stories to dive into. As always, thanks for watching.
